John Lathrop
PT, DPT, MBA, PMP, MTC, CSCS, TPI-CGFI

Most clinics are noisy, busy, and overwhelming...

...and most of the treatment is performed by PT Aides.

In my practice, the treatment is always one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  Our style is hands-on, focusing on manipulation and functional exercises that apply to your specific goal of getting you back to your favorite sports and activities.

More About John Lathrop

Growing up in a small town in Connecticut, my time was always split between music and sports. After completing my bachelor degree in audio engineering and music performance at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell,  I moved to New York City in 2005 to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  Since 2002 I had been seriously involved in personal training and wanted to progress that background to physical therapy.  After completing the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, I immediately began taking continuing education courses to advance my skills as a clinician.  I studied through the University of St. Augustine to learn Stanley Paris’ approach to manual physical therapy, and then furthered my studies by learning an osteopathic approach.

After achieving completion of Stanley Paris’ Manual Therapy Certification program I was able to provide the best possible patient care from combining that with what I had learned throughout my experience as a personal trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  Outside of serving as a physical therapist, I enjoy playing tennis, traveling, and have been an avid golfer since 1997.

Throughout my career as a personal trainer and physical therapist, I have worked with many professional athletes. Those include players involved in international baseball, basketball, and soccer leagues, as well as tennis players and golfers, professional bodybuilders, ballet dancers, and NYC’s rugby team. As a former and present competitive athlete, I understand the amazing feeling of maximizing your own athletic potential, and thrive to share this enthusiasm with my patients.

John Lathrop Physical Therapy strives to provide the best patient care to get each person back on their feet and functioning at their highest level.  This is done through one-on-one sessions where the patient will receive the therapist’s undivided attention for the entirety of each treatment; no physical therapist technicians or having to share the therapist’s time with other patients.  We believe this approach will serve patients better by achieving personal and functional goals at the quickest possible rate.
